We know your pets are cute, but are they smelly? Cleaning your home with vinegar can remove pet odors from floors, their coat and keep them free of ticks and fleas!
If you are a homeowner, you likely moved into your new home with every intention of keeping it as clean and beautiful as it was when you fell in love with it for the first time. But the reality is, when you start living in a house, you are going to have to work hard to maintain its condition and appearance – especially if you’ve got little ones running around (2-legged or 4-legged). That’s why Cedar Square Homes is here with some quick tips and tricks for cleaning your home using vinegar! Who knew?
Clean Your Floors Using Vinegar
If your no-wax floor needs cleaning, mix a ½ cup of white distilled vinegar into a half-gallon of warm water and clean the floors with the mixture for an added shine. If you have a non-oily stain on your carpet, try mixing 1 teaspoon of liquid detergent with 1 teaspoon of white distilled vinegar in a pint of lukewarm water. Apply the mixture to the stain with a soft brush or towel and rub gently. Using a clean, moist towel blot the stain dry – repeat until stain is significantly reduced or gone.
Deodorize Your Kitchen Using Vinegar
Is your garbage disposal or kitchen drain releasing a foul odor? It’s time to deodorize! To remove odors from your garbage disposal: Fill an ice tray using 1 cup of vinegar and remaining parts water and freeze it, making vinegar cubes. Drop the frozen vinegar cubes into the disposal and run it, flushing with cold water for a minute afterward. For upkeep, pour one cup of white distilled vinegar down the drain weekly and let it stand for 30 minutes before flushing with cold water.
Removing Pet Odors Using Vinegar
When we referenced 4-legged little ones earlier, you know we meant your beloved pets, right? Vinegar can help you fight pet odors and pests! By adding a teaspoon of white distilled vinegar to each quart of water your pet drinks (ratio meant for 40-lb animal), it will help keep them free of fleas and ticks. If your dogs are smelly, wet them down with fresh water then use a mixture of 1 cup white distilled vinegar and 2 gallons water to saturate their coat. Pat your dog dry without rinsing the solution. Odor-be-gone!
