Things to do in Glen Burnie this Spring

Glen Burnie is the place to be!

If you live in the Glen Burnie area, it is sometimes hard to think of activities to do as an adult that are not overpriced. Sure, you can take your kids mini golfing or race go-karts, but what’s in it for you? Here are some fun ideas for you and a significant other to engage in during the warm weather. Adults need play time too!

Host a barbeque.

You want to get the most out of your custom made home, complete with an outdoor patio and grill. Invite neighbors and friends over and grill chicken and hamburgers. Leave the kids behind and make a few pitchers of mojitos. Or make it BYOB and let the ladies bring their favorite wines, while you and the buddies bring a couple cases of beer. You can find iPod speakers at the dollar store nowadays and set the vacation tone with some Jimmy Buffet. Check out Pinterest for some great, quick party ideas like setting up cornhole boards. If you don’t want to make a lot of treats u can find little party finger foods in bulk at places like Sam’s Club. Drinks + music + food = one successful barbeque.

Play bingo.

Fire halls host bingo nights almost every week. Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Company hosts bingo every Wednesday and occasionally has high ticket prizes like Pandora jewelry. Not too shabby. Play bingo for a cure this Sunday, April 19 around noon at the Elk’s Lodge in Severna Park. It is a fundraiser for children’s cancer research – so you will be having fun while supporting a great cause. Nothing beats feeling like you’re helping someone in need.

Go to the driving range.

Practice your swing at the Arundel Golf Park – you can also sign up for a lesson. The center also has mini golf so you can make silly wagers with your date about winnings. Plus, it’s more fun when you only play with a couple people – you get more playing time and there are no kids to hit the balls into the water.

Try wine tasting.

You can do this inside or outside of your home. Invite friends over and tell them each to bring a bottle. Grab a cheese plate and enjoy the different variety! Want to go somewhere to learn more about wine? Visit Fishpaws Marketplace. Before you buy, you can taste it at the WineStation. Each week, they have a wine tasting during happy hour on Friday. Don’t like wine? Fishpaws has a brand new beer department that can keep you interested while your partner samples wine.

Paddle down the bay.

Glen Burnie boasts plenty of fishing spots as well as places to launch canoes or kayaks. You can rent these and take them out on the water – just be sure you know how to get back! To see a list of fishing spots in Anne Arundel County, visit the county’s website.
