This plan is often popular with families that have older children, frequent guests, a multi-generational household, or other situations where you want to be away from the noise. Parents of young children often prefer floor plans with bedrooms grouped together. As a parent, plans with bedrooms that are grouped together give you more peace of mind. You can easily hear little ones that wake up in the middle of the night.

For families that need more square footage, a good alternative is to choose an area with a large flexible space such as a loft or bonus room. These can be play rooms that give toddlers lots of room to roam. You can also add a built in to keep toys organized. An advantage of this is that your space can grow with your kids, what was once a play area for them can turn into a study area for them in later years. Once they’ve flown the coop, the area can be reused for a number of things, such as an office space or a storage area.
