Building a custom home is a lengthy and sometimes stressful process. The prize of having a home that is exactly what you want comes with the cost of having to make what feels like a million and one decisions. Once it is done and you finally get to move in, of course, you want to show it off. The best way to do that is with a housewarming party, and this is the perfect time of year to throw a great one. To help you out, we’ve rounded up some pointers to get your planning started.
Make A Plan
Why yes, that does mean you have more decisions to make, but by this time you’re old hat at it. Start by deciding the type of party you want to host – is it a classy brunch or a backyard barbecue? You’ll also need to decide how long the party will run, and if it will have a formal schedule or a relaxed, open house feel. Next, make a guest list and decide when you want to have it. The more time you give yourself to prepare, the less stressed you’ll be, so don’t rush.
Send The Invites
There are lots of ways to invite people to your housewarming, and the method you choose should be what works best for the number and style of guests. For instance, if you’re only inviting ten or so couples and most of them don’t use social media, a simple phone call might be best. If you’re inviting a lot of people and you want them to have all the details easily accessible, a Facebook event might work better. However you do it, give them a specific date to RSVP by so you can plan food accordingly.
Clean The House
Depending on how long ago you moved in, the house could be messy by the time the party rolls around. Let’s be real, it doesn’t take long for things to get messy. And while most guests at any other party wouldn’t go peeking behind closed doors, the point of a housewarming is to show off your beautiful custom home. This means all of the rooms should be clean and open to viewing. This may mean you need to give yourself more time for cleaning, so you should plan the party date with that in mind.
Have Fun
This is a celebration of your milestone. Don’t be so stressed and crazy making the party perfect that you don’t actually get to enjoy it. Mingle, talk to the important people in your life about the beautiful home you’ve created, and trust that the party will be fine.
